Modern Slavery Statement
Kensington Carpet Cleaning Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Kensington Carpet Cleaning in respect of our financial year and describes the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold and promote ethical labour standards and to ensure that the services we provide are delivered without exploitation.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Kensington Carpet Cleaning has a clear zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, child labour, and any other abuse of human rights. We are committed to acting with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not take place in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
All directors, managers, employees, contractors and suppliers are expected to share this commitment. Any known or suspected breach of this policy will be treated with the utmost seriousness, investigated promptly, and may result in termination of employment or business relationships where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Kensington Carpet Cleaning provides carpet, upholstery and related cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our direct workforce is primarily employed locally and operates under clear employment contracts and fair working conditions.
Our supply chain includes providers of cleaning products and equipment, vehicles, workwear, facilities services and certain outsourced business support services. We recognise that some of these supply chains may extend internationally and therefore carry varying degrees of modern slavery risk, particularly in manufacturing, logistics and lower-skilled service sectors.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers, contractors and business partners to operate to the same high ethical standards that we apply to our own operations. Our supplier onboarding processes include an assessment of labour practices, ethical conduct and compliance with applicable laws on modern slavery and human trafficking.
Where proportionate to the level of risk, we conduct audits or request evidence of compliance from suppliers. This may include reviewing codes of conduct, policies on labour and human rights, workforce documentation, and relevant certifications. We reserve the right to carry out site visits or request independent third-party assessments where we identify heightened risk.
If a supplier fails to meet our standards or refuses to engage in remedial actions, we will take appropriate steps which may include suspension of orders, requiring corrective action plans, or ending the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Kensington Carpet Cleaning encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chains. Concerns may relate to working conditions, treatment of workers, recruitment practices, withholding of identity documents, restriction of movement or any form of coercion.
Reports can be made confidentially through our internal reporting channels or directly to management. We will investigate all reports promptly and fairly and will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. Where appropriate, we will work with relevant authorities and external experts to address and resolve issues identified.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks and our zero-tolerance policy among our workforce. Relevant employees receive information and guidance on identifying potential indicators of exploitation, understanding reporting procedures, and engaging with suppliers responsibly.
Managers with responsibility for procurement and supplier relationships receive additional guidance on risk assessment, due diligence and the implementation of our supplier standards to help ensure that ethical considerations are embedded in purchasing decisions.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that preventing modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires continuous monitoring and improvement. Kensington Carpet Cleaning will review this Modern Slavery Statement and the effectiveness of our actions at least once every year.
As part of the annual review, we will consider any incidents reported, outcomes of supplier audits, changes in our business or supply chains, evolution of legal requirements and best practice guidance. We will use this review to strengthen our controls, refine our risk assessments and update staff training and supplier engagement as necessary.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Kensington Carpet Cleaning and reflects our continued commitment to conducting business in a manner that respects and protects the dignity and rights of all workers.
